The Knot You Got Wrong

I watched a scout tie a bowline wrong about six times in a row tonight. Six times. And then, on the seventh try, it was perfect. Nobody in this troop got good at anything on the first try — not knots, not cooking, not leading a patrol. The scouts who get good at things aren't the ones who never mess up. They're the ones who keep trying after they do. That's the whole secret, and it's not really a secret at all.
